The head of one of the dehqon (peasant) farms in the Histevarz jamoat of the Bobojon-Ghafourov district in the northern province of Sughd shot two fellow villagers with a hunting rifle, resulting in both of their deaths.

The incident occurred on April 27. Abduqahhor Abdujalilov, deputy head of the Histevarz jamoat, confirmed the incident in a phone conversation with Asia-Plus on April 28.

According to his information, a 46-year-old Khurshed Mavlonov, the head of the Zoidboy Karimov dehqon farm in the Histevarz jamoat, is suspected of killing two local residents — a 47-year-old Naimjon Khojiboyev and a 41-year-old Sharif Sultonov.

The deputy head of the jamoat noted that Khurshed Mavlonov wounded two of his fellow villagers with a hunting rifle, resulting in the victims dying from their injuries.

Abdujalilov did not explain the reasons for the incident, only briefly noting that “it was about money.” What money was involved and what financial relationships existed between the deceased and the suspect are unclear.

Mavlonov has owned a hunting rifle for many years, and residents were aware of this.

Naimjon Khojiboyev and Sharif Sultonov were buried on April 28 in their native village. Khurshed Mavlonov has been detained.

The Interior Ministry’s Office in the Sughd province confirmed the fact of the murder in the Histevarz jamoat, but to avoid hindering the investigation, they refused to disclose details of the incident.

The opinions of the relatives of the suspect and the deceased are also unavailable.
