Dushanbe police urge traders not to sell knives to minors

The discussion is about utility knives.

The Dushanbe police called on entrepreneurs and traders to refrain from selling household knives to minors, the Dushanbe Police Department’s website reported on May 13.

According to the data from the capital’s police inspection, minors most often buy knives at markets and in household goods sale points.

The Dushanbe police have also urged parents of teenagers to take “the behavior and actions of their children under strict control” and to understand the “serious responsibility” for their upbringing and education.

It should be noted that in the capital, knife incidents involving teenagers have recently increased in the city.

For instance, earlier in Dushanbe, a quarrel between minors escalated into a fight involving knives. As a result, one teenager received fatal knife wounds and died on the spot, and another minor was hospitalized with severe injuries.

Recently, Dushanbe police officers prevented a fight among teenagers that could have ended with the use of cold weapons.

The incident occurred on May 10 at the cemetery in the Kamoli Khujandi neighborhood of the capital’s Shohmansour district, where a group of minors gathered with the intent to start a fight.

“Thanks to timely measures taken by police officers, 9 minors from both sides were detained and brought to the city’s Police Department,” the Dushanbe Police Department reported.

During the inspection, police officers found and seized a knife from one of the minors.

An additional investigation is being conducted on the incident, and the necessary materials are being prepared.
