DUSHANBE, March 26, 2013, Asia-Plus  — Representatives of thee political parties and one self-propelled candidate will participate in parliamentarian by-election that will take place in the Vose constituency on May 5 this year.

An official source at the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) says the ruling People’s Democratic Party, the Democratic Party (DPT) and the Agrarian Party (APT) have nominated their candidates to run in the parliamentary by-election in the Vose district, Khatlon province.

A joint conference of PDP’s primary organizations in Vose, Temourmalik and Khovaling districts has approved candidacy of Ibodullo Nematov.  Ibodullo Nematov is head of the Jamoat named after Michurin in the Vose district (the jamoats of Tajikistan refer to the third-level administrative divisions, similar to communes or municipalities, in Tajikistan).

The DPT has nominated known Tajik journalist Rajab Mirzo.

The APT has nominated Zayniddin Safarov, deputy director of the Special Property Procurement Agency under the Government of Tajikistan.

Besides, self-propelled candidate Jourabek Qurbonov will participate in the parliamentary by-election in Vose.  Qurbonov is an unaffiliated person; he is head of the Kulob social protection department.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) said that it would not participate in by-election in the Vose constituency.  “We consider that there is no speaking about fair and transparent elections when representatives of political parties are not allowed to work with polling stations,” the IRP deputy chairman Mahmadali Hayit told Asia-Plus in an interview in early March.

We will recall that by president’s decree member of the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan Rustam Latipov, who was representing the Vose district in the parliament, was appointed acting chairperson of the Vose district, Khatlon province.  Under the country’s legislation, Rustam Latipov resigned his seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament).
