DUSHANBE, June 12, 2013, Asia-Plus — The RT Law “On Making Amendments to the RT Law “On the State Notariat” obligates notaries to report shady transactions and transactions, involving movable property and real estate worth 500,000 somoni and more, to relevant government bodies.

Bakhtiyor Khudoyorov, the head of President’s Executive Office, stated this at a session of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament) in Dushanbe on June 12.

Besides, an interagency commission to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism will be set up.  “The main task of the commission will be in coordinating efforts of relevant government bodies to combat money laundering the financing of terrorism,” Khudoyorov noted.

On June 12, the Majlisi Milli mainly considered and seconded a number of laws toughening efforts against money laundering and the financing of terrorism that were recently adopted by the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament.
