DUSHANBE, September 26, Asia-Plus  — The next meeting of the CIS council for cultural cooperation will probably be held next year in Dushanbe, according to the Ministry of Culture (MoC).

In a statement delivered at the 23rd session of the CIS council for cultural cooperation in Almaty (Kazakhstan) on September 24, Tajik Minister of Culture Mirzoshorukh Asrori offered to hold the next meeting of the council in Tajikistan.

The source at a MoC said that the Almaty session of the council had discussed prospects of development of national laws of the CIS states on culture and the possibility of working out a common culture code.

The meeting participants also endorsed a draft concept “Domes of Commonwealth: Libraries,” which is aimed at providing national libraries of the CIS states with access to electronic database of scientific theses stored in Russian state library.

They also worked out a draft agreement on joint production and distribution of films within the CIS area, the source said.  The document is expected to be signed at the next session.
