DUSHANBE, July 9, 2013, Asia-Plus — Six persons were killed and at least five others were injured on July 8 as two cars collided with each other in the northern province of Sughd.

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, the accident took place near the city of Istaravshan at about 11:33 pm.

Opel-Astra, driven by Khudoiberdi Maroufov, 42, reportedly went into oncoming traffic and collided with Opel-Astra, driven by Maroufjon Ashourov, 24.

As a result of the collision, both drivers and four passengers died on the spot, while five other passengers sustained various injuries and were taken to the central city hospital in Istaravshan.
