Dushanbe. 22 August. “Asia-Plus” – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is considering participation in implementing energy projects of Tajikistan.
The National Bank of Tajikistan press office informed Asia-Plus that the issue of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Bank was discussed on 21 August during the meeting of the Head of the National Bank with the Director of EBRD in Central Asia, Masaru Honma and EBRD Country Director, Ulf Hindstrom.
According to the source, EBRD leadership declared about its interest in establishing mutually beneficial cooperation in Tajikistan’s energy sector.
The parties also discussed possible enhancement of banking sector cooperation.
EBRD has been working in Tajikistan since 1996, and is the shareholder of one of the largest banks of Tajikistan, Agroinvestbank. EBRD also cooperates with other Tajik loan institutions, including Bank Eskhata, AccessBank Tajikistan, the First MicroFinance Bank, IMON International, and Huma.
