DUSHANBE, September 30, Asia-Plus – By September 30, representatives of the campaign staff of Ismoil Talbakov, the Communist Party (CPT) candidate for president, have collected more than 27,000 signatures.

Talbakov himself considers that the reason for collection of such a little quantity of signatures is the fact that Communist held their pre-election congress later than other political parties.

“465 initiative groups have been set up for collection of signatures and I am sure we will collect the necessary quantity of signatures (210,000) by October 7,” Talbakov said.

The Communist Party of Tajikistan held its pre-election congress on September 23 and the CPT first deputy chairman, Ismoil Talbakov, who is also member of Tajikistan’s lower chamber (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, was nominated to run in the 2013 presidential election scheduled for November 6.

Founded in 1918, the Communist Party of Tajikistan was registered in 1991.  According to some source, the party now has more than 45,000 members.
