DUSHANBE, October 3, 2013, Asia-Plus — After being closed for ten months, the Dushanbe cement plant was reopened in the evening of October 2, according to the president’s official website.

The resumption of work of the plant was reportedly marked in a ceremony attended by President Emomali Rahmon.

The first coal-fired rotary kiln installed at the plant is expected to produce 180,000 tons of cement a year.

13.5 million somoni have been spent for modernization of the Dushanbe cement plant.

350-400 kilograms of coal will be used for production of 510 tons of cement per day.

We will recall that China’s company, Beijing Uni-Construction Group Co., Ltd has installed the coal-fired rotary kiln at the Dushanbe cement plant, which is Tajikistan’s largest cement-producing enterprise.

The Dushanbe cement plant has four large rotary kilns with capacity of 600 tons cement per day each and two small rotary kilns with capacity of 300 tons each.

The Dushanbe cement plant with rated capacity of 1.2 million tons was not in operation for ten months due to lack of natural gas.

Yesterday, the president also visited the site for construction of a new combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Dushanbe.

The plant is being constructed within the framework of a trilateral agreement signed between the MoEI, China’s Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Co. Ltd (TBEA) and Electronic Apparatus Dushanbe Mining Co Ltd.

The first 50 MW unit of the Dushanbe-2 CHP plant is expected to be introduced into operation before the end of this month.   The second unit will be introduced into operation in February or March next year.  A total capacity of this coal-powered plant, which is being built in the Luchob area of the capital, will be 200 megawatt.
