DUSHANBE, August 26, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will begin visit to Tajikistan on August 27 upon an invitation by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who is rotting chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Ali-Asghar Sherdoust announced at a press conference in Dushanbe on August 25. 

On August 27, President Ahmadinejad will hold meeting with representative of Tajik intelligentsia.  

According to him, during his three-day visit, the Iranian president will attend a summit of head of states of the SCO, in which Iran has a status of observer and take part at a trilateral meeting with presidents of Afghanistan (Hamid Karzai) and Tajikistan (Emomali Rahmon) to sign a 17-point document for expansion of trilateral relations.  

During his stay in Dushanbe, President Ahamdinejad will also meet separately with his Chinese (Hu Jintao), Russian (Dmitry Medvedev) and Kazakh (Nursultan Nazarbayev) counterparts, Iranian diplomat said. 

He said that Ahmadinejad would also hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon to discuss ways of expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

“It is also considered the issue of participation of our president in the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a new building of the Iranian embassy at the Ismoili Somoni Street in Dushanbe,” Mr. Sherdoust said.
