DUSHANBE, August 14, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Officers from the Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) and Afghan border police are currently taking a joint training in Dushanbe that was launched on August 11.  

The training that runs through August 20 is conducted by officers from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Tajik DCA within the framework of the NATO-Russian Council project for counternarcotics training of Afghan and Central Asian personnel, which is implemented by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Central Asia, according to the DCA press service.  

28 participants in the training are studying issues related to carrying out various tactical operations to combat illicit drug trafficking and working interaction through.    

The main objective of the training is in improving organization of operations to combat drug trafficking and training of personnel, the source said.
