DUSHANBE, August 8, 2008, Asia-Plus — The tenth joint board meeting of the ministries of interior (MoI) of Tajikistan and the Russia Federation, has opened in the Tajik northern city of Qairoqqum.
During two days, the meeting, co-chaired by Minister of Interiors Mahmadnazar Solehov and his Russian counterpart Rashid Nurgaliyev, is expected to consider issues related to interaction between the ministries in investigating and solving crimes committed by transnational organized criminal groupings, plans of joint actions of the law enforcement agencies of the two countries in combating drug trafficking, as well as a plan of actions of the united board for 2009, according to the Tajik MoI .
The sides will also consider issue related to the labor migration problems such as providing rights and freedoms of Tajik labor migrants working in Russia.
The meeting is supposed to result in signing of two agreements on jointly fighting extremism and terrorism as well as providing assistance with detaining criminals and detecting persons that are reported missing, the MoI source said.
