DUSHANBE, March 29, 2014, Asia-Plus — The Prosecutor-General’s Office has remitted the case of Rasoul Amonullo, the 16-year-old son of ex-chief of Tajik Railways (Tajik state railway company) Amonullo Hukumatullo, and the 21-year-old resident of Dushanbe Umar Sharifov, who are charged with involvement in a deadly traffic accident, for further investigation, according to the Ministry of Interior (MoI)

An official source at a MoI says the case has been remitted for further investigation with the following formulation: “an incomplete investigation.”  He refrained from giving further details.

The MoI submitted the case for consideration to the Prosecutor-General’s Office in the second half of February.

We will recall that three persons were killed and three others were seriously injured on October 9, 2013 as BMW crashed into VAZ- 21-04.  According to the Interior Ministry’s website, Rasoul Amonullo, who was behind the wheel of BMW, is responsible for the deadly accident.

Rasoul Amonullo was reportedly driving his brand-new BMW above the speed limit in the wee hours of the morning when he struck another vehicle.

The Tajik Interior Ministry described Rasoul Amonullo as “a participant in the traffic accident,” adding that that there is also another participant in that traffic accident — Umar Sharifov, 21.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of Article 212 (3) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – traffic infringement and violation of rules of exploitation of means of transport entailing the death of two and more persons.

The children of the country”s elite are known to often participate in nighttime street races and during the visit to the Interior Ministry on November 20, 2013 President Emomali Rahmon reportedly touched upon the issue of reckless driving by children of the country’s elite.  The president urged to punish all traffic offenders, regardless of whose children they are.
