DUSHANBE, April 7, 2014, Asia-Plus — The USD exchange rate has risen slightly in Tajikistan again.

In Dushanbe, the exchange rate between the dollar (USD) and the national currency, the somoni (TJS), increased from 1:4.97 on March 31 to 1:4.98 on April 7, with similar exchange rate rises in other parts of the country.

In Khujand, the capital of Sughd province, the exchange rate between USD and TJS increased from 1:4.99 on March 31 to 1:5 on April 7.

In Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province, the exchange rate between USD and TJS increased from 1:4.98 on March 31 to 1:5 on April 7.

In Kulob (Khatlon province), the exchange rate between USD and TJS increased from 1:4.96 on March 31 to 1:5 on April 7.

In Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), the exchange rate between USD and TJS has remained unchanged – 1:4.90.

We will recall that Tajikistan saw quite a sharp currency devaluation in mid-February, when the somoni, fell three percent against the dollar.

On February 11, the exchange rate of TJS against USD at some currency-exchange points in Dushanbe was 5:1.  The USD exchange rate reportedly fell on February 15 due to additional measures taken by the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).  On February 15, the exchange rate between USD and TJS was 1:4.94.
