China’s company explores possibility of production of phosphoric fertilizers in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, August 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday July 31, senior representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) met with visiting managers of China’s Yunan Phosphate Chemicals Group. 

Narzullo Dadaboyev, a spokesman for a MoA, said that production of mineral fertilizers was a major topic of the talks.  The Yunan Phosphate Chemicals Group deputy general manager, Mr. Li Yaoji (phonetically spelled), noted that the purpose of the visit is for them to explore the fertilizer supplies situation in Tajikistan and the possibility of production of phosphoric fertilizers here.  

The side considered issues related to launching a joint venture in Tajikistan for production of phosphoric fertilizers. 

During the meeting, it was noted that phosphates produced by the Yovon chemical plant are enough to meet only 30 percent of Tajik agrarian sector’s requirements in phosphoric fertilizers, the spokesman said.
