DUSHANBE, August 1, 2008, Asia-Plus  — Twelve small hydropower plants are expected to have been put into operation this, Rashid Gulov, deputy engineer-in-chef at Barqi Tojik power holding, said. 

According to him, the mentioned small hydropower plants are being constructed under financial support of foreign investors.  

“Eight projects for construction of small power plants, totaling $11.5 million, are being implemented by the government jointly with the Kuwaiti Development Fund,” said Gulov.  “Of this amount, $9.2 million have been provided by the Kuwait Fund and Tajik government’s contribution is $2.4 million.” 

He added that four other projects have been sponsored by the UNDP CO in Tajikistan.
