Rahmonov urges to intensify fight against corruption

DUSHANBE, February 20, Asia-Plus – President Emomali Rahmonov yesterday met with a group of law enforcement officers that had been appointed to high-ranking positions in police directorates in the regions and districts, presidential press service reported.

Reminding them of the law requiring an oath of loyalty to the president, Rahmonov demanded at the meeting that they should do their duties conscientiously.  He noted that they should pay a special attention to the fight against bribery, drug trafficking and other violations of law among police officers.

The president noted that the key task of police is not only to prevent crimes, especially those involving drug smuggling and trafficking but also to protect rights of citizens.

Abdijabbor Azizov, State Adviser to the President for Personnel Policy, and Mahmadnazar Solehov, Minister of Interiors, who also attended the meeting, were charged to take adequate measures to improve selection of personnel for the country’s law enforcement agencies.
