KHUJAND, August 4, 2014, Asia-Plus — A judge from the northern province of Sughd has reportedly got a jail term of five years for bribery.

“Since the beginning of this year, only one judge has been convicted in Sughd province,” Marouf Bobojoniyon, the head of the Shouroi Adliya (Council of Justice)’s office in Sughd, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the Supreme Court has sentenced a judge from a court in the Bobojonghafourov district, Dilshod Rofiyev, to five years in prison.  The sentence reportedly followed his conviction on charges of bribery.   The court also ruled that Rofiyev will be barred from his duties for three years.

Bobojoniyon noted that over the first six months of this year, the Shouroi Adliya’s office in Sughd had received 98 complaints from local residents against judges and the judicial system employees.
