KHOROG, July 9, 2008, Asia-Plus — Folk music group Somon led by known Tajik singer Qurbonali Rahmonov is currently on the tour of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (Gorno Badakhshan or GBAO). 

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Bozicha Gulshayev, the head of the GBAO culture directorate, said that it is the first-ever visit by such a large republican music group to the region.

“Before that, only small groups had been in arriving in our region for one or two days on occasion of any holiday,” Gulshayev said.  

Somon has already played concerts in Darvoz, Vanj and Rushan districts.  During its stay in Gorno Badakhshan, the group will also visit the city of Khorog, Ishkashim, Roshtqala and Shugnan districts.
