DUSHANBE, October 8, 2014, Asia-Plus – One person was killed and at least three others were wounded on October 8 as a blast struck in a beauty salon in Dushanbe’s neighborhood # 46.

The blast struck in the beauty salon, placed in a 17-floor shopping center “Sadat,” at around 11:00 am.  Witnesses say the explosion occurred in an office of the salon owner Oleg Tokov.  Oleg Tokov was killed and three other people were wounded in the blast.

The beauty salon is placed on the first floor and the blast was sufficiently powerful that it blew out the windows of lower stories of the building.

The explosion was followed by a fire that destroyed the salon owner’s office.

Tajik law enforcement authorities have portrayed the incident as accidental.  They say the explosion may have been caused by chemicals that were kept in Tokov’s office.
