DUSHANBE, October 9, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday October 8, police checkpoints at all the four Gates to Dushanbe were reinforced with armored vehicles.

An official source at the Dushanbe police department says these measures have been taken in connection with the president’s departure for Minsk for participation in summits of the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) that will take place there on October 10.

“On president’s return to Dushanbe, the armored vehicles will return to the cantonment areas,” the source said, noting that the decision to reinforce police checkpoints has nothing to do with the Group 24 opposition movement’s calls on social network for a protest in downtown Dushanbe on October 10.

Meanwhile, some sources say that checkpoints at the Gates to Dushanbe have never been reinforced with armored vehicles during president’s trips.
