DUSHANBE, July 4, 2008, Asia-Plus – The number of school leavers has reduced in Gorno Badakhshan.
Jangibek Ulfatshoyev, a leading specialist with the GBAO education directorate, said that 4,083 students finished schools in Gorno Badakhshan this year, which is 161 students fewer than last year.
“Over the last two years, the number of school students in the region has reduced by 9,000 people,” the leading specialist said, noting that one of the main reasons for reduction in the number of pupils is reduction in birth rate
According to him, reduction in birth rate has resulted from socioeconomic difficulties and labor migration.
