DUSHANBE, July 3, 2008, Asia-Plus — Grain-harvesting campaign is progressing in Tajikistan and some 400 grain harvester combines are currently working in the fields, Asia-Plus has learned at the crop department within the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
The source at a MoA said that Tajik grain grower have harvested 110,526 tons of cereals, including 105,999 tons of wheat, by June 3.
This year, farmers have planted cereals on an area of totaling 291,447 hectares. Of them, 146,786 hectares have been sown with wheat.
Tajik grain growers are expected to have harvest some 700,00 tons from irrigated lands this year, the MoA source said.
