DUSHANBE, January 28, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s national fixed-line operator, Tajik Telecom, has raised prices for outgoing calls from fixed-line phones.

“One minute of outgoing call from fixed-line phone, previously 3.5 dirams, now costs 4.0 dirams,” Ms. Tatiana Kholmurodova, the deputy head of the Communications Service under the Government, told reporters in Dushanbe on January 28.

Meanwhile, the price for one minute of call from fixed line phone to mobile phone reportedly remains the same – 4.0 dirams.

“The subscriber’s rental for the fixed-line communications has also been raised from 2.30 dirams to 2.50 dirams,” Kholmurodova said, noting that the price hike resulted from the rising prices of electricity in the country.

According to the statistical data from the communications service agency, there are 400,000 active fixed-line telephone subscribers in Tajikistan.  Besides, there are 11.4 million mobile telephone subscribers in the country and only 6.4 million of them are active subscribers.
