DUSHANBE, June 7, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) has distributed US-provided humanitarian aid to a number of medical facilities across the country, the RCS public relations officer, Ms. Madina Sayfiddinova, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

“Humanitarian aid worth $850,000 was handed over to TB hospitals in Dushanbe, Vahdat and Vose as well as maternity house in Vahdat, on June 5,” she said, adding that the aid has been delivered to Tajikistan from the United States through the US Red Cross. 

“Blankets and hygienic kits were handed over to the Republican TB Hospital, which is located in the settlement of Machiton, Vahdat district,” said Sayfiddinova.  “286 patients now undergo medical treatment for TB in this hospital with 700 beds.”

“Assistance was also provided to maternity house (baby kits) and central district hospital in Vahdat, as well as RCS volunteers, members of the village development committees and primary school pupils,” the RCS public relations officer said, noting that the assistance is aimed at providing support for TB patients and their families.

Part of aid was also handed over to the TB hospital in the Vose district and children’s TB hospital in Dushanbe, Sayfiddinova said.
