DUSHANBE, May 27, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s state consumers’ cooperation union, Tojikmatlubot, has been supplying Turkmen cooking (cotton) oil Kazakh wheat flour to the country, Lafiz Ghulomov, the head of the Tojikmatlubot export/import department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, some 130 tons of the Turkmen cotton oil and 872 tons of the Kazakh wheat flour have been supplied to Tajikistan through Tojikmatlubot’s enterprises since the beginning of this year.
Speaking on the present food supply situation in the country, the Tojikmatlubot official said, “For all our desire we will not be able to reduce market prices; however, we can influence basic food price policy through creating conditions for sound competition.” “Thus, the Tojikmatlubot enterprises have sold the Turkmen cotton oil at the rate of 6 somonis per liter and the Kazakh flour at the rate of 120-122 somonis for a 50-kilogram sack.”
Ghulomov added that they plan to have supplied some 1,000 tons of cooking oil and more than 10,000 tons of flour and food wheat to the country by the end of year due to sale of fruits and vegetable outside Tajikistan.
