DUSHANBE, May 26, Asia-Plus  — The Youth Labor Exchange at the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs has revived traditions of student construction teams that had been popular during the Soviet time.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Youth Labor Exchange head Yuldosh Eshov said, “The issue was almost resolved several years ago, when Tajikistan and the Russian Federation signed a government-to-government agreement on student exchange; under this agreement, students of the two countries may take practical training at construction and industrial enterprises of each other.”

According to him, this summer, they will send the first construction team numbering 50 students to the Russian Volgograd region.  They will work in the agrarian sector, assisting farmers with gathering fruit and vegetable harvests.  “This seasonal work will give our students a good opportunity to earn no bad money,” Eshov said.

He further added that the Youth Labor Exchange has sent more than 100 Tajik labor migrants to the Russian Federation since the beginning of this year; 45 of them are working in the agrarian sector in Russia’s Karsnodar region.   Besides, 150 youth will be sent to the city of Dimitrov, Moscow region in early June.
