DUSHANBE, May 23, Asia-Plus — Repairs to the Dushanbe head and power plant are under way and will be finished in early October, Asia-Plus has learned from Rahmatullo Qalandarov, the engineer-in-chief with plant.
According to him, Barqi Tojik (Tajik electric systems) power holding has to date allocated 2.2 million somonis for repairs work.
“After modernization, the plant will be able to generate 180,000 kWh of electrical power and 270 gigacalories per hour that will allow providing with electricity and heat major part of Dushanbe,” the engineer-in-chief noted.
“No repairs have been made to the plant over the last four years,” said Qalandarov. “I hope that an opportune delivery of spare parts and materials will allow us to complete repairs work by the time fixed.”
The Dushanbe heat and power plant with capacity of 198 megawatt was built in 1968. It now works on natural gas and low-sulphur fuel oil is used as reserve fuel.
