DUSHANBE, May 22, Asia-Plus  — Customs officers at the Khujand airport have stopped an attempt by Khujand resident Rustam Samadov to internally smuggle narcotics into the Russian city of Novosibirsk.  

According to the Sughd customs service, Rustam Samadov was caught during customs inspection of passenger on the flight Khujand-Novosibirsk on May 19.  “Samadov had ingested 98 wraps of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing 460 grams.  

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Samadov under the provisions of articles of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code: Article 200 (trafficking in narcotics, psychotropic substances and precursors) and Article 289 (contraband), and an investigation is under way.
