DUSHANBE, April 24, Asia-Plus — Unfair and preconceived course of investigation and its results may affect the situation in the country, an open letter by Mirzokhouja Ahmadov, the head of the regional body empowered to combat organized crime in Rasht Valley, sent to the president and the prosecutor-general, said.
In his letter, he, in particular, noted that he is not politician and that after redundancy, of supporters of the United Tajik Opposition (UTO) that were reintegrated into the government forces, only seven currently serve with the battalion that was formed in Rasht.
Moreover, members of the UTO that were taken on the staffs of government bodies were later withdrawn from the staffs and they now do have the right to receive pensions, Ahmadov said in his letter.
He also noted that after events of February 2, 2008, when the commander of the special police unit Oleg Zakharchenko was killed, it has become clear that despite of the General Peace Agreement the country’s authorities do not trust them.
Ahmadov asked the head of state and the prosecutor-general for assistance in giving unbiased assessment of murder of Oleg Zakharchenko.
