DUSHANBE, April 23, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan’s Main Geology Directorate head Azim Ibrohim told a press conference in Dushanbe on April 22 that a share of foreign investments in exploration of natural resource reserves in all regions of the country has been increasing year by year.
“In 2007 alone, foreign companies have invested $14 million in exploration works in the country, and over the first three months of this year, foreign investments have increased to $16 million,” he said.
The Main Geology Directorate head reminded that Russia”s state-controlled gas company Gazprom is exploring oil and gas reserves of the Rengan field in the Rudaki district and the Sargazon field in the Danghara district. Besides, the company Somon-Oil is exploring gas and oil reserves in the northern Sughd province, Kazakhstan’s C.A. Minerals has got license for development of the Yakjilva silver deposit in the Murgab district, and the limited liability company Kuhi Zarrin is developing Khukas nickel and copper deposits in the Vanj district.
