DUSHANBE, November 3, 2015, Asia-Plus — Oxfam organized a roundtable on results of Analysis on Gender, Age and Disability aspects of diversity in Disaster Risk Reduction related projects in Dushanbe on 29 October.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, the event aimed at providing a platform for discussion and developing recommendations and measures as a contribution to the dialogue on New National Platform of the Republic of Tajikistan on Disaster Risk Reduction (Decision №98 of the Government of Tajikistan dated March 1, 2012).
Governmental agencies, donor organizations, civil society, community based organization representatives, academia and mass media attended the roundtable.
“Oxfam together with its national and international partners works to make vulnerable people ready to respond to potential hazards and we hope that today’s discussion will further improve incorporating issues of gender, age and disability in the DRR sector planning”, – said Bojan Kolundzija, the Country Director with Oxfam in Tajikistan.
The analysis was reportedly conducted under the Oxfam’s Disaster Risk Reduction program and 420.000 EUR (3.030.787 TJS) DIPECHO program financed by European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO).
