DUSHANBE, January 20, 2016, Asia-Plus – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is addressing a joint meeting of both chambers of the parliament today.

Usually, in an address to the parliament, the president discusses the country’s priorities in domestic politics and foreign policy as well as the main economic challenges.

In his previous address to the parliament (January 23, 2015), President Rahmon paid a special attention to problems of development of Tajikistan’s economy under conditions of global economic and financial crisis, as well as the fight against international terrorism and extremism.

Today, the president is paying a special attention to domestic politics and foreign policy and will outline priorities of development of the national economy and social sphere for this year.

We will recall that since the last year President Rahmon has addressed the parliament in January but not in April as he had done before.

The address was reportedly brought forward in connection with the fact that since the last year a financial year has started on January 1 and not April 1 as it was before.
