DUSHANBE, January 29, 2016, Asia-Plus – A multi-stage antidrug operation by the Drug Control Agency (DCA) has resulted in the seizure of 149 kilograms of narcotic drugs in Dushanbe and Khujand, the DCA spokesman Khoushnoud Rahmatulloyev, told Asia-Plus on January 29.

According to him, a totaled included three kilograms of heroin and 146 kilograms of hashish.

“In the course of the operation that was launched in November last, several “checked purchases [of drugs]” have been carried out and an organized criminal group involved in transporting Afghan narcotic drugs via Tajikistan and other Central Asia’s nations to Russia has been broken up,” Rahmatulloyev said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted the detained drug traffickers under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large scale trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances ad precursors; an investigation is under way.
