DUSHANBE, February 10, 2016, Asia-Plus – Bilateral consultations between Tajikistan and Pakistan took place in Dushanbe on February 9.
Co-chaired by Mr. Nizomiddin Zohidi, Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister, and Mr. Amjad Hussain B. Sial, Special Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, the meeting focused on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
A special attention was reportedly paid to agreements reached during a meeting of the leaders of the two countries in Islamabad in November last year.
The sides planned steps to expand cooperation between the ministries and agencies of the two countries, intensify contacts between business, scientific and cultural circles of Tajikistan and Pakistan, as well as extend the legal foundation of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The delegations also exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in addressing threats posed to national and regional security and a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest, the source said.
We will recall that previous bilateral consultations between Tajikistan and Pakistan took place in Islamabad in May last year.
The two sides last year discussed in detail matters of their mutual interest including connectivity via rail and road, direct flights, Trilateral Transit Trade Agreement, energy cooperation including CASA-1000 Power Import Project, cooperation against international terrorism and extremism and security cooperation between the two sides, and regional and international issues.
The meeting also covered wide range of other topics including connectivity via rail and road, direct flights.
