DUSHANBE, March 25, Asia-Plus  – On Monday March 24, the Micro Lending Foundation (MLF) HUMO awarded its best clients of the year.  The award ceremony was held in the Yovon district, which is one of zones of activity of HUMO.

The award winners included borrower groups Ghalaba, Rustam, Hulbuk, Rahmat and Sadoqat.  Besides, presents were also given to individual borrowers Shakarkhon Azimov, Mamalakat Mardonova and Bukhori Karimov, the source at a MLF said.

The award recipients have been selected under the following criteria: an opportune return of loans and payment of loan interest as well as quantity and frequency of acceptance of loans, the source said.

Senior representatives from the district administration, the MLF management and other officials attended the ward ceremony.

In the meantime, the microlending fund now has 1,000 clients, and HUMO’s active portfolio has to date amounted to 1.2 million somonis.

HUMO is successor of the CARE Tajikistan credit program.  CARE Tajikistan started implementing credit programs in 1996. To respond to the changing legal environment, CARE Tajikistan transformed MCU to an independent, locally registered and certificated Micro Lending Foundation (MLF) with the name HUMO.

HUMO visualizes the development of a Micro Finance Organization (MFO) as taking place in two stages: microlending fund – non-commercial organization and microlending deposit organization (for 2008).

The HUMO mission is to improve the living standards of the marginalized and poor populations and to support the micro and small enterprises with credit and credit related services.
