Medical workers in Farkhor and Temourmalik do not have conditions to make in-depth HIV testing

KULOB, March 20, Asia-Plus  — Medical workers dealing with AIDS/HIV problems in Khatlon’s Farkhor and Temourmalik districts are prohibited from making in-depth HIV testing, Kuvandyk Asadulloyev, the head of the test lab at the Kulob AIDS/HIV-Prevention Center, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, the Farkhor and Temourmalik specialists have been prohibited from making in-depth HIV testing because of lack of elementary conditions of work in premises provided for them.  Head physicians of central district hospitals are to seek solution to these problems but “they have complained of shortage of time,” the lab head said.

“The test lab at the Kulob AIDS/HIV–Prevention Center currently makes up to 3,000 blood tests for hepatitis, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) per month infection,” Asadulloyev said.
