DUSHANBE, March 16, 2016, Asia-Plus – Over the first two months of this year, inflation in Tajikistan has stood at 1.9 percent, according to the press center National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT).
In February, inflation reportedly stood at 0.5 percent, which was 0.9 percent fewer than in January.
In January-February this year, prices of foodstuffs have increased by 23.4 percent. Over the same two-month period, non-foodstuffs have risen in cost by 1.1 percent. Over the first two months of this year, prices and rates for services rendered to the population have increased by 3.2 percent.
NBT experts attribute decrease in the inflation rate to “normalization of the situation in the country’s domestic currency market and strengthening of the exchange rate of the national currency, the somoni, against foreign currencies.”
Meanwhile, according to
