The board reportedly discussed issues related to expansion of cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in combating extremism, terrorism and organized crime, as well as exchange of experience of police reform.

The meeting resulted in signing of new cooperation agreements between the interior ministries of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the website said.

The documents were inked by Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda and his Kyrgyz counterpart Melis Turganbayev.  The documents reportedly provide for cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of the two countries in combating transnational crime, terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

The sides reportedly agreed to hold a meeting of the Tajik and Kyrgyz interior ministries’ joint board once a year and the next meeting will take place in Kyrgyzstan in 2017.

We will recall that Melis Turganbayev heading Kyrgyz interior ministry’s delegation arrived in Guliston on April 14.  On the same day, he held talks with his Tajik counterpart Ramazon Rahimzoda.  The two reportedly exchanged views on further expansion of bilateral cooperation between their countries in combating organized and transnational crime.
