Eurasian parliament speakers meet in Moscow to discuss cooperation

DUSHANBE, April 18, 2016, Asia-Plus – Shukurjon Zuhurov, speaker of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament, is visiting Moscow at the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma (Russia’s lower chamber of parliament) Sergey Naryshkin and Korean National Assembly Speaker Chung Eui-hwa to attend the first consultative meeting of Eurasia parliament speakers.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says the meeting will kick off on April 19 and last until April 21.

Speakers from 19 countries are expected to attend the meeting that will discuss the state and prospects of further expansion of parliamentary cooperation between the Eurasian countries.

While in Moscow, Zuhurov will hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Naryshkin and parliament speakers from a number of Middle East countries, Sultonov said.
