DUSHANBE, February 28, Asia-Plus — Transport planes of Bundeswehr (German Federal Defense Force) with humanitarian aid on board landed at the Dushanbe airport yesterday, according to the German Embassy in Dushanbe.
The planes delivered 33 generators, which will be distributed by KfW to educational and social facilities in the western part of the Khatlon province.
Besides, Germany provided 1,000 blankets for the most vulnerable sections of the population in Tajikistan.
This aid is part of German campaign to provide urgent assistance to victims of the energy crisis in Tajikistan. The total amount of German aid programs sums up to 750,000 US dollars.
As it had been reported earlier, the Federal Republic of Germany acting through German aid organisations provides support to many victims of the current energy crisis in Tajikistan.
According to press release issued by the German Embassy in Dushanbe, GTZ supports schools, vocational schools and boarding schools for disabled pupils in Khatlon and Sughd provinces and Vahdat district by providing them with generators, ovens and heating material to keep normal school work running. Additionally GTZ in cooperation with German Agro Action, Red Cross and Red Crescent provides hospitals in the Zarafshon valley with materials of vital importance. German AgroAction distributes food-packages to people in need in the Sughd province, supports hospitals and assists in clearing blocked roads in Rasht valley.
KfW imports 33 generators from Germany to ensure emergency treatments in hospitals all over the country.
Caritas distributes 2,600 food-packages to people in need in Dushanbe and Qurghon Teppa. These aid programs are supported by the personnel of the DED.
