DUSHANBE, February 28, Asia-Plus  — Prospects of cooperation between Business Associations’ Coordination Council and the State Committee for Investments and Management of State-owned Property were discussed at a meeting of the State Committee head Farrukh Hamraliyev with representatives from the Coordination Council in Dushanbe recently.

Nourali Shukurov, director of the USAID Business Environment Improvement (BEI) Project in Tajikistan, said that the meeting participants had discussed issues related to taxation, debts of dehqan (peasant) farms, failure to implement laws, as well as nonparticipation of private sector in working out laws regulating entrepreneurial activity.

According to him, during the meeting, it was suggested that a council of experts for investments and entrepreneurship support should be set up at the State Committee for Investments and Management of State-owned Property.  This council could participate in tackling problems facing entrepreneurs.

The council members are supposed to include representatives from the State Committee and the Coordination Council.

The council will develop and submit recommendations on all issues to the government, Shukurov said.  In case of necessity, it will invite experts and representatives from academic circles.
