DUSHANBE, February 22, Asia-Plus  — Because of energy crisis and severe electricity shortages enterprises of light industry last month received 6.7 million somonis (equivalent to some $1.9 million) lest that their due, Asia-Plus has learned at the light industry department of the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI).  

Besides, frequent electricity supply disruptions have resulted in some equipment at these enterprises having become unserviceable and enterprises suffered an estimated 54,000 somonis in economic damage from this, the source at a MoEI said.  

Last month, enterprises of the light industry produced a total of 10.255 million worth of output, which is 4.675 million somonis fewer than in January 2007. 

 At present some enterprises of the light industry receive electricity supplies regularly.  Thus, after being closed for nearly month, open joint-stock company (OJSC) Nafisa (hosiery enterprise) resumed its work on February 21.     

 In all, at present there are 20 large and medium-sized enterprises of the light industry in Dushanbe.
