(“Ambassador Yerlan Abildayev: Realities in Tajikistan Are Distinctive” # 32 (16418) of February 21, 2008).
“My answer to correspondent’s question was based exclusively on theoretical considerations, from the perspective of accepted scientific hypotheses from history of rise of world conflicts,” Abildayev said.
Kazakh chief of mission noted that in his interview with the newspaper he had relied on facts of common knowledge from world history that might lead to conflicts in any state. “And I in no way meant the possibility of recurrence of the civil war in the Republic of Tajikistan itself,” Kazakh diplomat said.

, asked whether there is threat of a new civil war in Tajikistan in connection with ongoing crisis in the country, Mr. Abildayev said, “Such threat remains intact. All depends on socioeconomic situation in the country, and deterioration of the situation, of course, may lead to dissatisfaction of the population. The cold and hunger may cause social tensions. Moreover, notorious clan structure may also elicit its weighty utterance…”
