DUSHANBE, February 6, Asia-Plus  — The AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEWS) lunches the Access Project, which is aimed at supporting development of health sector and psychosocial services 

The AFEW representative in Tajikistan Ikrom Ibrohimov noted that the project designed for two years will be implemented as part of the Program for Mitigation of Transition Period in Ferghana Valley.  

According to him, the estimated budget for implementation of the project in Tajikistan is 500,000 euros.  In Tajikistan, the project will be implemented in Khujand, Panjakent, Chkalovsk and Qairoquum, Sughd province under financial support of the European Commission.

The main objective of project is to support development of public health and psychosocial services fro vulnerable groups in the Sughd province through enhancing their access to services and medical aid as well as through reduction of a level of discrimination against people living with HIV, Ibrohimov said.  

The project includes creation of new services (help centers, community organizations, etc) development of services with involvement of people from high-risk groups.  Besides, training seminars will be conducted for medical workers.
