One of top managers of Coca-Cola Beverages Tajikistan (CCBT — Coca-Cola – Nushikihoi Tojikiston) faces an administrative fine for not complying with requirements of Tajikistan’s migration legislation.

A source at Tajikistan’ migration service agency says a number of foreign nationals have been working for CCBT without registration and appropriate documents (work permit) for several months.

He refrained from giving further details of the case and just noted that the infringements had been revealed during an inspection conducted at the company.

The source has explained that CCBT has only one quota for hiring an employee from Kyrgyzstan.  “Meanwhile, two Kyrgyz nationals have been working with the company as top managers,” he said.

It is an administrative infringement and the company must pay a fine, the source added.

Under Tajikistan’s legislation, foreign workers must not make more than 30 percent of the personnel of companies operating in Tajikistan.  A company should obtain a quota for hiring foreign workers.  Expats have an opportunity to hold management positions in companies registered in Tajikistan.

The Coca-Cola bottling plant was introduced into operation in Dushanbe in summer last year.

CCBT is owned by Coca-Cola Icecek A.S.

Coca-Cola Icecek A.S. is an anchor bottler and a part of the Coca-Cola System.  It is 50.3% owned by Anadolu Efes S.K., 20% owned by the Coca-Cola Company, 4% owned by Ozgorkey Holding, and the remaining 25.6% publicly traded on the Turkish stock exchanges.  It is the 6th largest bottler in the Coca-Cola System in terms of sales volume. The company is headquartered in Istanbul.

The company is the bottler of Coca-Cola products in Azerbaijan, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Jordan, as well as its home country of Turkey.
