DUSHANBE, December 17, Asia-Plus  — The capital mayor’s office has announced “The Best Mahalla” competition. 

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said that the goal of the competition was to promote development and involvement of Dushanbe’s mahallas (communities) in activities organized to mark the Capital City Day, which is marked on third Saturday of April.   

The first round of the competition will be held from December 25, 2007 to April 5, 2008, and the final round will be held from April 5 to April 15 2008, the spokesman said.

According to him, a place for holding public and private ceremonies for 100 people will be constructed in the mahalla, which will win the competition.
