By president’s order Tojikmatloubot (Consumer Associations’ Union of Tajikistan) has built vegetable store with capacity of 3,000 tons and it has refrigerating chambers for storage of 1,500 tons of products, Tojikmatloubot head Husian Idiyev told reporters in Dushanbe on July 20.

“It has been done for the purpose of making preparations for the autumn-winter period and curbing prices at bazaars during the autumn-winter period,” Idiyev said.

According to him, they will deliver 1,740 tons of potatoes, 1,255 tons of onions and some 100 tons of other farm produce in the autumn.

Idiyev noted that neither the Dushanbe mayor’s office nor Tojikmatloubot are to blame for increasing prices for agricultural goods.

“Farmers set prices themselves.  An increase in the USD exchange rate results in an increase in prices for fuels and mineral fertilizers.  Besides, farmers pay taxes.  Therefore, they cannot sell their products at loss,” Tajik official added.
