At the ongoing EXPO 2017 in the Kazakh capital of Astana, Tajikistan has become of one of attractive countries in terms of investment, director of Tajik pavilion, Odil Sangov, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, many investors have shown interests in Tajikistan’s investment proposals in the field of hydropower.

“The main factors for Tajikistan’s attractiveness are stability and low prices of resources,” said Sangov.  “Besides, Tajikistan has received several tempting proposals for cooperation in agrarian, mining and tourism sectors.”

According to him, Tajikistan’s large investment proposals concern hydropower.  Tajikistan has reportedly presented its hydropower potential at EXPO 2017 in Astana, putting on display its achievements in energy sector as well as scientific and technical works in the field of energy saving technologies.

Sangov says specialists from several foreign companies have already gone to Tajikistan to conclude contracts on cooperation in sectors like mining and food industry.  He refrained from giving further details.  He just said that Finnish specialists, for example, had shown interest in Tajik dried fruits.

Besides, several Chinese companies have reportedly expressed readiness to build large plants in Tajikistan following example of Huaxin Gayur Cement.

On the list of potential investors there are companies wanting to participate in solar energy development projects in Tajikistan, Sangov added.
