An agreement for the provision of a concessional loan amounting to 10 million euros, aimed at implementing a project to update the State Institution “Republican Oncological Scientific Center,” was signed in Dushanbe.

The agreement on the concessional loan between Tajikistan and the Export-Import Bank of Austria was signed on April 21 between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Austrian financial organization, reported the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan.

The funds will be directed towards equipping the center with modern diagnostic equipment of European production and improving the qualifications of specialists in the field of oncology.

The State Institution “Republican Oncological Scientific Center” in Dushanbe is one of the leading medical institutions in the country in the field of oncology.

According to available official data, the modern center was formed as the Republican Oncological Scientific Center as a result of the reorganization of the oncology service in the late 1980s, when the oncology institute was transformed into a republican scientific center.

In 2006, by the resolution of the government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republican Clinical Oncology Center was transformed into the State Institution Oncological Scientific Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan (SI OSC MH RT).

It is worth noting that in the first six months of 2025, 2,742 new cases of oncological diseases were detected in Tajikistan.

According to the Ministry of Health, among the new patients, 61.7% are women, and 38.3% are men. The incidence of breast and stomach cancer is increasing, with more than 21 thousand people registered by the end of 2024.
